# How do I handle a tenant that refuses to pay rent under the new rules?

Landlords must notify any tenant who is in breach of their tenancy in writing immediately and follow statutory steps to address arrears. If the arrears persist, the landlord can rely on the strengthened mandatory grounds for possession under Section 8.
