What is the appropriate length for a tenancy agreement created before May 2026?

Any tenancy created before 30th April 2026 should follow current AST rules (typically a minimum fixed term of 6 months). From 1st May 2026 onwards, there will be no fixed term; the tenancy will simply be periodic from day one.
